Hello all, welcome to Cydiabuzz. Today here we are presenting the tutorial how to enable Cydia stashing on iOS 10.2 jailbreak to get more storage space for tweaks on jailbroken iPhone or iPad. Many iPhone or iPad users with 16 GB or 32 GB storage space might have faced issues of not having enough storage space to install tweaks. Are you one of them? If yes, here is the solution, you just have to install one simple stashing package which paves the way to install additional tweaks.
First, we will discuss how this is different from traditional stashing and how it works? This stashing package from Coolstar works differently from the traditional stashing on jailbroken devices. Traditional stashing normally Cydia has would move several folders of iOS file system components like ringtones, apps, and wallpapers to /var/stash to make space available for more tweaks to be installed.
This is broken on iOS 8.3 and above versions and becomes not possible. There comes the Patcyh which makes it work again. Patcyh, however, requires a fully working untether jailbreak, and hence traditional stashing is dangerous in a semi-untethered environment. But recent jailbreaks are semi-untethered as Yalu + Mach portal and Yalu102.
Today here we are going to show how you can do stashing on iOS 10.2/10.1.1/10/9.2. This stashing package installed through Coolstar does things differently. Unlike traditional stashing, this package moves the tweaks going to be installed onto the system partition to the system partition having more storage. Means this package moves the Cydia packages directly to the data partition to make free space available on the system partition. This is much safer than traditional stashing, especially in a semi-untethered environment.
How to Enable Stashing On iOS 10.2/10.1.1/10/9.2
Warning: Installation of this package may cause problems which requires you to restore your device using iTunes and losing jailbreak. So proceed at your own risk.
- First, you need to add the developer’s CoolStar repository to the Cydia.
- To add repository launch Cydia, navigate to Sources >Edit > Add.
- Enter the URL: https://coolstar.org/publicrepo and click on Add Source.
- Once added, refresh Cydia and search for the package ”Stashing for iOS 9.2 – 10.2” on Cydia search functionality.
- Once found, proceed with the installation of stashing tweak onto your jailbroken iOS device.
- Once installation completed reboot your iOS device. Remember if you reboot your device you need to re-jailbreak using Yalu102 app on home screen.
That’s it you have done with the stashing package installation. This is very useful for 16 GB or 32 GB iOS device as they only have 68 MB and 200 MB free space on system partition. You can download and install tweaks normally but, they will directly be installed to the data partition on iPhone or iPad and make space available on the system partition.
